40 Winks: Newborn Care

40 Winks: Newborn Care: Welcome

At 40 Winks: Newborn Care it is my mission to provide growing families with non-judgmental support and evidence based knowledge and resources throughout the perinatal period. As a Certified Newborn Care Specialist (CACHE), it is my goal to develop an environment that will promote and establish healthy and sustainable sleeping habits. I will work with families to create a nurturing and stimulating environment to promote healthy mental, physical, and emotional development. As a Certified Postpartum Doula (NAPS), it is my goal to help ease the transition into parenthood and guide families as they’re trying to establish their “new normal.” I will provide them with evidence based information and give emotional support so that they can make the best informed decisions for their family.

I am passionate about finding ways to help families get care and support during the postpartum/newborn period. It is my goal to establish an income based scholarship program to provide care to families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access support during this time. I am also passionate about helping families with premature babies, multiples, and families/infants with special needs. As my nephew was a foster-to-adopt baby, I also understand how much support non-traditional families need during this period as they try to build a nurturing environment and healthy bond with their baby. Ultimately, I am very dedicated to finding new opportunities to learn and stay up to date on best practices. In order to accomplish these goals I plan to take additional courses on multiples and premature infants, car seat safety, sleep coaching, full-spectrum/grief care, adoption doula care, safe sleep practices, lactation education, etc.

40 Winks: Newborn Care: Testimonials

I can't say enough positive things about the knowledge Laura demonstrated in newborn care--from sleeping to feeding to soothing to swaddling to bathing and diapering. In fact, I always looked to Laura to learn how to approach the newborn stage.
